GYPSUM – Eagle Valley High School senior Mariah Scott and principal Mark Strakbein concluded relief efforts for tsunami victims last week.

“Over $3,000 was donated by students and staff,” Strakbein says. Scott, who has been a member of the Red Cross for the last four years, approached Strakbein with the idea of students giving up one lunch – about $3 — towards the relief.

Strakbein and Scott finished visiting home rooms at the school last week. “We finished collecting and we’re really proud of everyone in our building,” Scott says, adding many people donated “way more” than $3.
