Students earn college credit

EAGLE COUNTY ” Battle Mountain and Eagle Valley high school students have received awards from the Advancement Placement Program in which they received college credit.

The students gain college credit based on exams. The highest score on the advanced placement exam is a 5, and some students take exams in several subjects.

Seniors who scored on average 3.5 on the exams, and the colleges they will attend are: Bria Barker (Duke), Nicole Penwill (Washington University) and Christopher Woodruff (University of Southern California), all from Battle Mountain.

Students who scored an average of 3.25: Kimberely Corwin (Wellesley), Kimberly Hill-Gillie (University of San Diego), Travis Landauer (Bucknell) and Sydney Nichols (CU Boulder), all seniors at Battle Mountain; and Ascher Robbins, Anneliese Seibert and Samuel Sterling, all juniors at Battle Mountain.

Students who scored three or higher on three or more exams are: Erik Garcia (Mesa State), Megan O’Rourke (University of Michigan), Connor Penhale (CU Denver) and Kayleen Seaton (CU Boulder), all seniors at Battle Mountain; Molly Crocker (Cornell University) and John Huffman (Denver University), both seniors at Eagle Valley; Kaleigh Armitage, Briton Bock, Caitlin Cerra, Barrett Chow, Alexa Corcoran, Samuel DeChant, Andrew Fontanese, Annalise Marcum, Jonathan Stevens, Taylor Bearisto, Jennifer Thul and Hana Warmenhoven, all juniors at Battle Mountain; and Hilary Henry and Rebeckah Stough, juniors at Eagle Valley.
