Studio Anjali at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa is hosting two unique workshops this September, a mala making workshop on Saturday, Sept. 19, and a two-part handstand workshop this Saturday and Saturday, Oct. 3.
MALA MAKING WORKSHOP
Malas are strings of prayer beads used to chant mantras or pray. They can be used for yoga practices or to help with your own personal meditation or religious prayers. A traditional mala is made out of 108 beads and a tassel, plus one bead to serve as the guru bead marker. Mala beads are made out of natural materials to provide the mala with a special kind of energy.
The mala making workshop will be led by guest instructor Mindy Arbuckle on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. The price is $35 in advance or $40 the day of the event. Beads can be purchased starting at $25.
Studio Anjali’s two-part handstand workshop will be held this Saturday and Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Led by Claire Evans, this is a step-by-step workshop on how to build your handstand practice. Part I will include an introduction to handstand anatomy and prep poses. Part II will expand your handstand into the next posture, integrating what you learned the week before and from your daily practice.
All ability levels are welcome to attend the handstand workshop. If you are new to handstands, you will learn how to get started. If you are familiar with handstands, you can refine your form and practice. If you are an advanced yogi, you will have the opportunity to learn how to surrender to another variation.
The price is $25 per session or $45 for both sessions for Athletic Club members or $30 per session or $55 for both sessions for the public.
