VAIL – The Vail Valley Chamber and Tourism Bureau has announced the finalists in all seven categories for its second annual Success Connection Awards, which will be given out at the Roaring ’20s Gala on Jan. 28 at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort and Spa.The finalists are in the following categories: – Business of the year: Evans Chaffee Construction, Gallegos Corporation, Sonnenalp Resort.- Small business of the year: Talbot Intermountain Insurance, Untraditional Marketing, Verbatim Booksellers.- Emerging business of the year: Blue Tiger, eat! drink!, Shaw Cancer Center.- Nonprofit of the year: Eagle Valley Land Trust, Vail Symposium, Vail Valley Charitable Fund.- Marketing campaign of the year: Colorado Mountain Express, Minturn Market, Untraditional Marketing’s Dallas Symphony Orchestra campaign, Vail Valley Charitable Fund’s Vail Undressed calendar. – Customer service of the year: Alpine Bank in Edwards, Pismo Gallery, Beaver Creek, WestStar Bank in Edwards.- Businessperson of the year: Rod Slifer. “All of our finalists have made tremendous contributions to the local business community over the past year,” said Robin Litt, director of partnership for the Chamber and Tourism Bureau. “These awards recognize the businesses and individuals that have really raised the bar in the Vail Valley.”Nominations for the 2004 Success Connection Awards were submitted this fall by local businesses this fall. Nominees were evaluated on their accomplishments in the past year. Finalists were selected by a committee of Chamber and Tourism Bureau members, including several of last year’s award recipients.In early December, the Chamber and Tourism Bureau announced that the Eagle Valley Land Trust will be named nonprofit of the year. A portion of the proceeds for the Roaring ’20s Gala will be donated to the land trust.
