Successful children’s book drive aided Colorado flood relief
VAIL — This past holiday season, the town of Vail’s Art in Public Places organized a children’s book drive with the Vail Public Library to aid Colorado flood relief. More than 200 books were donated by residents and guests this winter season and sent to Lyons a small community that was amongst the hardest hit by the floods.
“Please assure all those who worked on the book drive project that their efforts and time are greatly appreciated. In addition to accessioning items into our collection, we will be sharing with the local Montessori school. Also, selected titles will revive our HomeLiteracy outreach program which is very important to some of our neediest patrons,” said Merlyn Williams, director of the Lyons Depot Library.
Along with the community of Lyons, Art in Public Places and the Vail Public Library would like to thank everyone who donated to the children’s book drive making it a great success which we hope to repeat this year.
