‘Summer Bug Safari’ at the Eagle Valley Library District
Vail CO, Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY ” Here’s your chance to get up close and personal with live insects, spiders and other creepy crawlers from around the world. Representatives from the Denver Butterfly Pavilion will visit the Avon, Eagle and Gypsum Libraries on Wednesday as the libraries celebrate the finale of the Children’s Summer Reading Program, Catch the Reading Bug! The Butterfly Pavilion will be presenting “Summer Bug Safari,” a one-hour, hands-on experience which brings live bugs for children to observe, study and touch.
“This year’s summer reading theme of ‘Catch the Reading Bug’ has been a wonderful opportunity to bring in insect experts and entertainers from around the state,” said Cortni O’Brien, public relations librarian for Eagle Valley Library District. “You couldn’t help but learn something about bugs just by stepping foot in our libraries this summer. It’s appropriate and exciting to close summer reading with a special program from the Butterfly Pavilion because their goals are right in line with ours ” to combine education and learning with hands-on fun.”
The bugs will be visiting the Gypsum Public Library at 10 a.m., the Eagle Public Library at 1 p.m., and the Avon Public Library at 3 p.m. The Summer Bug Safari is a free event, and is tailored for children entering first through sixth grades.
