Summer reading success

Robyn Bryant, Kendra Doepken, Kari Thorne,
and all of the staff from The Eagle Valley District

The Eagle Valley Library District would like to thank the following individuals and groups for their generous donations of time and talent to this year’s summer reading program. Thanks to all of you, we had the biggest and best summer reading program yet, and hundreds of children caught the reading bug this summer! Our thanks go out to:

Alex Crus from Alpine River Outfitters for his program on fly fishing, fly-tying and local entomology; The Avon Recreation Center for donating day passes to summer reading challenge winners; the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, particularly Liz Campbell for her tireless work contacting and scheduling musicians for the Live@the Library programs; CSU Extension’s Jenny Wood for helping construct “bug boxes” with the participants; Doug Fasi, local beekeeper hobbyist, who taught about beekeeping and hives; ECO Transit, for providing free weekly program transportation and for the kick-off/finale performances for Dotsero and Two Rivers Communities; The Gypsum Recreation Center, for donating rec center day passes to summer reading finishers; Janie Pardo and Lori Walker with the National Park Service; Julie Norberg and Jeremy Pague from The Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability for their informative and engaging hands on session on worms and composting; Lynn Kelly with Colorado State Parks for fun and informative programs on mosquitoes and grasshoppers; The Red Hill Rascals, for their enthusiasm during their weekly program; The School District and principals and teachers who helped promote the summer reading programs; Susan Yandle, for reading to the kids; and finally, the Friends of the Library, for purchasing prizes and sponsoring the summer reading kickoff and finale performers.

And to all of our eager young summer reading participants, thank you! We celebrate your reading progress this year.
