Summit County doctor’s office employee arrested
Summit County, CO Colorado
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colorado “After a five months investigation, the Summit County Drug Task Force arrested former High Country Healthcare employee Tracie Leigh Spangler on suspicion of fraudulently filling out her own prescriptions.
High Country Healthcare in Breckenridge first contacted the task force in July, claiming that Spangler had been calling in her own prescriptions to local pharmacies without the doctors knowledge.
Spangler, 42, used the computer system at High Country Healthcare to place the prescriptions, using different doctors’ names each time.
She left Summit County and moved to Keller, Texas, shortly after authorities began their investigation, and the task force worked the case for five months before obtaining a search warrant.
Spangler was arrested on 28 counts of fraud and deceit, 39 counts of unlawful acts. She bonded out of the Summit County Jail on a $10,000, and has an initial court appearance scheduled for March 11.
