Summit County: Drunk man drives Jeep through yard into snowbank

Vail, CO Colorado
A man recently drove a Jeep up a stranger’s home driveway and through the yard before getting stuck in a snow embankment.
The 23-year-old was found standing in the driveway with a face covered with mud spatterings wearing dirty, wet clothes, according to a Sheriff deputy’s report.
The man was intoxicated and swaying in a circular motion while standing in one spot.
Asked what happened, the man replied: “Basically, I got drunk in Breckenridge and (screwed) up, I drove my car up here to find a bus, I got lost and tried to turn around, and got stuck.”
He declined to participate in roadside maneuvers because he was “too drunk,” according to the report.
The Jeep’s passenger said the two had been drinking alcohol at several bars in Breckenridge, and the driver got stuck after passing the home and trying to turn around.
A witness said she saw the driver “gunning the engine” and that it appeared he drove into the yard intentionally.
The deputy observed ruts in the home’s yard, but the owner couldn’t be immediately reached for an estimate of the damage, according to the report.
The driver had a preliminary breath test reading of 0.244 breath alcohol concentration. He later fell asleep during jail processing. The man was charged with drunken driving and careless driving.
