GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” One thing Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs, Colorado appreciates is its skiers.
And the skiers showed their appreciation at Friday’s 22nd Annual Lafarge Skier Appreciation Day helping raise a record-setting $10,180 for the Garfield County United Way.
Last year’s event saw an uncharacteristically low amount with $6,390 raised, but this year was right back up with 2007’s record-setting event that first broke the $10,000 mark.
It was a great day for the resort, the community, and the United Way according to Sunlight’s marketing manager Dylan Lewis.
“We are kind of blowing last year’s event out of the water this year,” Lewis said.

Proceeds from daily lift tickets, which were reduced to $15, and the addition of
Williams Production RMT sponsoring a free ski and snowboard lesson for first-timers ambitious enough to try, helped make the day a success.
Sunlight Mountain also celebrates students and teachers on Sunday with Teacher and Student Appreciation Day. Each school will receive a packet of coupons that allow students to ski for only $15 and teachers will ski free. Teachers and students just have to provide a school picture ID at Sunlight Guest Services on Jan 11 to get the coupon.
