Support our community by shopping in Eagle County
Avon,, CO, Colorado
This is a difficult economic time we are in. Every day the media is blasting us with how bad it is.
There are a lot of businesses that are really hurting. I would like to take this opportunity to ask the people who call this valley home to consider doing most of their shopping locally.
No, not so much at the big boxes where a lot of your money supports things made in China, but at your small, independently owned local business.
These are the small businesses that America was built on. Small businesses do not get bailouts.
Denver shopping supports Denver’s infrastructure and tax base. Internet shopping, while convenient, does not support our local economy, plus you pay shipping and “handling” fees.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
This shopping season, I implore you to shop locally, keep your dollars at home. It is better for the environment and your community.
Seek out your local business owners. They have a lot in common with you and all of them will be happy to see you. Laugh with them, celebrate your community, and let’s make an effort to keep our dollars at home and keep our community strong through this economic downturn.
