Suspected gang members in Greeley face deportation
GREELEY, Colorado – Authorities say nine people suspected of belonging to a violent gang in Weld County are facing deportation.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Greeley Police Department say five of the suspects were arrested on immigration violations and another four were in the Weld County jail for other crimes.
Authorities say three are lawful permanent residents but they may be deported because of their criminal histories.
Authorities say some of the suspected gang members have convictions for assault, illegal possession of drugs and firearms, felony menacing, and burglary.
The names of the suspects were not released. The arrests announced Monday were part ICE’s “Operation Community Shield,” an initiative targeting gangs.
