Suspected serial bank robbers charged in Colorado

DENVER, Colorado – A man suspected of being the “Shaggy Bandit,” accused of 17 bank heists in four states, has been charged with two counts of bank robbery.

Twenty-nine-year-old Michael Kincade of Commerce City appeared Monday in federal court in Denver to hear the charges. Kincade’s suspected accomplice, 45-year-old Christopher Richardson, also of Commerce City, faces the same charges.

Detention and preliminary hearings are set for Thursday.

The FBI called the robber the Shaggy Bandit because of his resemblance to a character in the “Scooby Doo” cartoon.

Kincade and Richardson are suspected in several robberies since June 24, mostly in the Denver area. Other thefts were in Flagstaff, Ariz., Albuquerque, N.M., and Hutchinson, Kan.
