GYPSUM, Colorado – A suspicious vehicle attempted to make contact with a child walking to the bus stop in Gypsum, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The suspicious contact occurred Thursday when a child was walking to the bus stop near Higgins Hollow. A man driving a red older model pickup truck with a camper shell motioned to the child with his finger to come to the truck. The child continued walking to the bus stop and the truck and continued toward Highway 6.

The driver of the pickup is described as a Hispanic male between 30 and 40 years of age with short brown hair and green eyes. The passenger is described as a Hispanic teenager with a sideways hat brown hair and gray eyes.

The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said it is stepping up patrol in the Gypsum area before and after school as a measure of precaution.
