Swap draws thousands for bargain equipment

People shop for bargons in a thicket of ski's at the Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap.

The event looks like the largest ski equipment garage sale anywhere.

“The number of people Friday night was on par or slightly less than last year’s numbers,” said Aldo Radamus, executive director of Ski and Snowboard Club of Vail. The swap is the club’s major fund-raiser, bringing in as much as $75,000.

By close of business Saturday night 4,000 attendees had sifted through nearly 20,000 items and had purchased nearly $800,000 in ski and snowboard equipment and apparel.

Ski and Snowboard Club Vail has more than 300 members and the majority of those are under 14 years of age, Radamus said.
