Swine flu not on list of shots for Colorado students
DENVER, Colorado – Colorado health officials say they have no plans to add the swine flu vaccine to a list of recommended shots for students.
Dr. Ned Calonge, chief medical officer for the state health department, told lawmakers Thursday the pandemic has not yet become serious enough in Colorado to warrant that step.
Calonge told the Legislative Emergency Epidemic Response Committee that parents are being urged to keep their children home if they are sick when classes resume next month.
Health officials say an El Paso County woman in her 40s died of the swine flu virus on Tuesday, the state’s first confirmed case.
