Tahoe resort offers discounts, over-the-top ski gifts
DENVER, Colorado ” When it comes to extravagant, over-the-top gifts, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s black diamond ski package may fit the bill.
Besides seven nights of lodging in a three-bedroom, three-bathroom suite, the package includes six-day lift tickets for two kids and two adults, lessons, equipment rentals, a spa package, $1,225 in dining and food credits, other goodies, plus a $10,000 black diamond necklace.
Price tag: $26,653, plus tax.
It goes on sale Jan. 1.
The price is still below the season pass Great Canadian Heli-Skiing started offering this season for $100,000. Great Canadian says it has sold about a half dozen so far.
Northstar dreamt up its own pricey offering to celebrate the resort’s addition of more expert, black diamond terrain and the completion of its $55 million Village at Northstar project. The black diamond necklace is being provided by one of the stores in the village.
“We wouldn’t expect to sell more than one or two,” said Julie Maurer, vice president of sales and marketing for the resort.
For everyone else, Northstar is offering other packages, like lodging and lift tickets for two, starting at $108 per person, per night.
