Take a walking tour of Vail’s art
Vail, CO, Colorado
Vail ” Vail’s free Public Art Walking Tours are proving to be popular, with 15 adults and four children attending the inaugural walk on July 15. Town of Vail Art in Public Places Coordinator and tour leader Leslie Fordham says many attendees commented they hadn’t noticed the artwork before and were glad they took the tour. “Everyone liked the riddles on Wall Street,” said Fordham. “We finished at La Tour with drinks and a discussion, the group was very friendly and sociable. I think some new friends were made over art.”
The Sunday tours will continue on July 22, Aug. 5 and Aug. 12. Attendees are asked to meet at 3 p.m. in front of the Colorado Ski Museum on the third floor of the Vail Village parking structure. Fordham provides information on well-known sculptures such as the 10th Mountain Division Memorial, as well as on newer works like the railings on the Gore Creek Promenade pedestrian bridge, with tours varying by week.
This Sunday’s tour will feature Vail artists, including Ty Gillespie, Celine Krueger and Julie Spinnato.
The free tours last approximately one-and-a-half hours and conclude with a complimentary drink at La Tour, plus time for discussion. For more information, contact Fordham at 376-1863.
