Special to the DailyFourteen homes will be on display for the inaugural Taste of Eagle Ranch and Home Tour Sunday, including the Fedrizzi residence, the Houcks domicile and the Nilsson home. A 5$ donation will go to the Youth Foundation and Brush Creek Elementary School. The event is a weekend-long affair.

Big summer hoopla is coming Friday through Sunday to Eagle Ranch. The whole gang is invited for a jam-packed family weekend of exciting activities, summertime food and the first-ever Eagle Ranch Home Tour of 14 residences.

The weekend is designed to give folks a taste of living in this vibrant down-valley community, and to experience its wonderful hometown setting and welcoming neighbors.

The festivities kick off with Friday Afternoon Faire starting at 5 p.m. next to the Capitol Theatre. Enjoy the summer evening with the sassy sounds of a jazz quartet while you browse the delectable fresh fruit and produce offered by local farmers. Other booths feature beaded jewelry, luscious hand-made soaps and body creams, bouquets of colorful cut flowers, custom gift baskets, fine photography and more. Everyone can climb aboard the big wagon for a free horse-drawn hayride.

Saturday is family day and a carnival mood descends upon Eagle Ranch. An 18-foot-tall puppet will entertain the kids, and there’ll be a big inflated jumping castle where they can work off their energy. The Carmen-Schmu band will fill the afternoon with lively folk rock sounds. A caricature artist will sketch, and the kids can get their faces painted, too. There will also be free coupons good for movie matinees or food, giveaways of golf cart coupons to be used on the Eagle Ranch Golf Course, and other goodies.

It’s all a fun-filled lead-up to Sunday’s first ever Taste of Eagle Ranch and Home Tour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Personalities from KTUN radio will broadcast music and hijinks live from Eagle Ranch. A variety of local eateries and caterers plan to offer up tempting specialties, while talented craftspeople display their fine jewelry, crafts, gift baskets, and other wares. The young ones will be busy, too, making simple construction projects and painting their own one-of-a-kind T-shirts.

The Home Tour gives you a delightful peek into the dazzling designer ideas and architectural concepts found in the finest Eagle Ranch residences. Vans will shuttle visitors from door to door throughout the Ranch, or you can choose to walk or ride your bike. Maps and home programs are available at the booth near the Capitol Theatre. Fourteen homes in all are featured for $5, with proceeds to benefit the Youth Foundation and Brush Creek Elementary School.

The owners of eight custom homes plan to open their doors, along with a furnished MacDonald Street townhome, a West Village condominium, two private single-family Village homes, and two award-winning Village Homes show models. The homes feature the classic-yet-contemporary design elements of the Victorian Craftsman and Prairie styles. These traditions all have a place at Eagle Ranch, and together they give the community its small-town western character.

Each home has its own distinctive surprises to explore. They include a sun-filled conservatory, an “endless” indoor pool, custom art glass windows, and a variety of cozy guest or rental apartments. Whether you’re scouting ideas for your own home-to-be, or just want to see the latest floorplans, wall and floor coverings, appliances, and cutting-edge kitchen and bath trends, this is your chance.

The weekend boils down to fun, entertainment, food, giveaways, kid stuff, and a tour of 14 fabulous homes.
