Taste Russian River Valley wines in Avon

AVON — National Brand Manager Tom Rozner of Hartford Family Winery visits Vin48 in Avon on Wednesday as part of the restaurant’s Summer Tasting Series.

Hartford Family Winery is a family-owned winery located in the Russian River area of Sonoma County. The winery specializes in single-vineyard pinot noir, Chardonnay and old vine zinfandel. The wines produced express the character of their unique vineyards. Uniquely expressive, the vineyard sites chosen for Hartford Family Winery are located in some of the coolest areas of the Russian River Valley, Green Valley, Sonoma Coast, Anderson Valley and Carneros appellations.

Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1994 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford’s appreciation for the wines, the people, and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast.

“Making delicious wines of high personality is directly related to the difficult locations of our vineyard sources, the limited production of our bottlings and the varietals we use. Character through adversity is an expression that we believe applies to people and grapevines and surviving adversity builds character, and personality, in both,” said Rozner.

The event is part of the restaurant’s Summer Tasting Series, which takes place every Wednesday and features winemakers/importers from the world’s best wine growing regions. The wines are paired with Hays’ cuisine. The event is $25, which includes wine tasting and appetizers. All wines served are available at discounted prices from series partner Beaver Liquors in Avon.
