Teacher gets punched in altercation

GYPSUM – Police have yet to decide if they will make an arrest following a scuffle at Eagle Valley High School Friday night. The brief altercation, between a juvenile and a school administrator, happened after the juvenile and another teen tried to get into a basketball game, but were refused entry because they’d had a previous confrontation there and weren’t allowed on school property, police said. After they were turned away, the two juveniles allegedly made some obscene gestures and kicked over a trash can, police said.Following school protocol, the administrator followed the two students out. One of the teenagers allegedly turned around, confronted the administrator and hit him on the chest, police said. At that time, the teacher defended himself, police said.The case is still under investigation and there could be an arrest in the future, police said.Man who helped driver arrestedEAGLE – A man who stopped to help a driver involved in a rollover ended up under arrest on suspicion of drunken driving, police said. The man had stopped to help a driver roll his car back on its wheels on Eby Creek Road. When police arrived, they accused the helper of being intoxicated and arrested him, police said.
