Teaching Vail children to think of others
Vail CO, Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” The Town of Vail Public Library will provide an afternoon of Valentine making for children ages 6-11 from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday in the community room of the Vail Library. In the spirit of civil rights and volunteerism for which Martin Luther King, Jr. stood, the Vail Library is sponsoring a special Valentine gift making day to benefit homebound seniors in our community. This two-hour program will encourage children to think of others in the community.
The Vail Library will provide the materials and instructions for children to create a Valentine card that will bring joy to a local senior on Valentine’s Day. The Valentine cards and banners will be delivered to the seniors by the Health and Human Services of Eagle County before the seniors’ Valentine’s Day meal in February.
“The Town of Vail Public Library is pleased to provide this fun event, at no cost, for children on a day when they are home from school,” said Lori A. Barnes, town librarian. “We are happy to invite families into the library where we will encourage the children to think of someone in their community who may be less fortunate than they, such as a senior who, for whatever reason, is homebound and may feel lonely.”
Parents are welcome. The event is free. For more information, call Annie or Cricket at 970-479-2179 for more information.
