Teen gets 10 years in Pueblo shooting death
PUEBLO, Colorado ” An 18-year-old has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in a May 2008 shooting death at a house party in Pueblo.
Alfonso Salas was sentenced Wednesday by District Judge Thomas Flesher after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Carl Eugene Quintana.
The 28-year-old Quintana was shot May 10 outside his home, where he was having a party.
Prosecutors say Salas and his friends were driving away from the party when Salas pointed a gun out the window and shot Quintana. Salas claimed he shot Quintana in self-defense after Quintana pulled a gun on him.
Deputy District Attorney Bob Case says his office agreed to the plea deal because of conflicting witnesses statements.
