VAIL, Colorado – Conceptual plans for temporary structures needed to operate the Vail Golf Course and Nordic Center in anticipation of future renovations will be presented to the Design Review Board at its regular meeting on Wednesday. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. in the Vail Town Council Chambers. The item is listed eighth on the agenda. The notice also lists a conceptual review of driving range netting at the golf course. However, this topic will not be discussed or reviewed at this time.

The conceptual review for temporary structures at the golf course is being requested by the Vail Recreation District and the town of Vail staff in preparation for a conditional use permit for the facilities which would be submitted at a future date. The temporary facilities would be located in the vicinity of the driving range and the starter building and are contingent upon finalized plans for renovation of the golf course clubhouse and the construction schedule for relocation of the 18th hole.

Four temporary structures and an enclosure are proposed to accommodate the golf and Nordic operations during the renovations. These include a retail-rental and office trailer, a restroom and locker trailer, a two-bay storage shed, a cart barn tent approximately 50 feet by 100 feet for summer operations and a fenced enclosure for back of house operations. Depending on approvals, installation of the temporary structures would occur prior to renovation of the clubhouse.

No decisions are being requested of the Design Review Board during Wednesday’s conceptual review. The formal review process would begin following submission of a final design review application, conditional use permit application and refined drawings. The applications would then require approvals by the Planning and Environmental Commission and the Design Review Board.

Once the conceptual review is complete, the design team will be hosting an open house for the public to review and comment on the proposed temporary structures. The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Ben Krueger Room at the clubhouse.
