Tess Backhus reveals rich discoveries at Asian Village in Riverwalk at Edwards

Daily staff report

EDWARDS — "Each journey to the iconic Tucson Gem Show is a new treasure hunt for me," said local jewelry designer Tess Backhus. She will come to Asian Village this week, starting Tuesday, to share her latest collection of inventive, one-of-a kind pieces with many longtime followers.

In addition to the colors and textures of a multitude of new stone strands, Backhus has an eye for discovering new gold, silver, stone and bone clasps that give character to the back of the neck or, slipped to the side, a strong focal point or whimsical statement.

Backhus' pieces each have the depth and natural character of the West, while encompassing the forefront of fashion trends. Warm, rich hues of Monument Valley's early spring desert with its changing light and terrain, clear air and indigo skies can be seen in her spring collection.

Meet with Backhus and see her new colors, textures and inimitable details in multi-lengths and layers, chokers, wraps, statement earrings and bold bracelets. She will be at Asian Village, across from Starbucks in The Riverwalk at Edwards, this week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Asian Village owners Susan Bristol and UnChu Ring also will be on hand.
