Text message fight leads to 4 arrests in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – A dispute over text messages sent to a woman in Grand Junction led to an armed standoff with four people arrested.

Authorities say 24-year-old Matthew Ray Williford was arguing with another man Saturday over text messages sent to Williford’s sister, 19-year-old Breanne Arabie.

Police say that later in the night Williford, Arabie and two other friends went to a residence where the texter was playing cards. People at the card party told police that Williford pointed a .45-caliber pistol at them and threatened to shoot them. No one was injured.

Williford and his sister and the two friends then left but were pulled over by sheriff’s deputies. All four are being held in the Mesa County Jail awaiting bond hearings.
