Thanks for the opportunity to lead the Vail chamber

Richard tenBraakVail, CO, Colorado

Eight years ago, a job offer brought me to Vail. I have been fortunate to call the Vail Valley my home ever since. Starting as the director of sales and marketing for Manor Vail Resort, I quickly became involved with Vail community. I have been an active member of the Rotary International Vail Valley chapter since 2001. From 2004 to 2006 I was a member of the board of directors for the Vail Commission on Special Events, where I held the position of vice chairman. In 2006 I joined the board of the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council. That same year, I also became the president of the board of the Vail Chamber & Business Association. Being a part of several different aspects of the Vail community has been a great opportunity for me.Recently becoming the Executive Director of the Vail Chamber & Business Association has given me a wonderful opportunity to interact with the local business community again. The Vail chamber is committed to being the leading business advocacy group for Vail businesses in the Vail Valley. The greatest benefit we can give our members is an outlet for communicating their concerns as well as their strategies for improving the business environment of Vail. Along with the benefits the chamber provides its members, we are working hard on developing some events to bring more visitors to Vail. The past two years, the chamber has produced the BBQ Bonanza in Vail Village. This event has become successful enough that we have been asked to produce two more events. A week before to the June 27 BBQ Bonanza in Vail Village, we will be holding our first annual South of the Border Fiesta, June 20 in Lionshead. Then on Aug. 25 we will be holding our Sweet on Vail event on Meadow Drive. All three of these events will allow family members of all ages to have a good time and enjoy the best of what Vail has to offer. I look forward to developing more of a relationship with the local business community, the town of Vail and Vail Resorts. I am focused on making the best of the challenging times we are currently going through. Knowing that the improvements we make today will make us better tomorrow, I am excited for the future of our community. Rich tenBraak is the Executive Director of the Vail Chamber & Business Association.
