The Fill the Van food drive by Colorado Mountain Express proved to be a great day for the Salvation Army’s food pantry. At the end of two days of collecting donated food, CME and the Vail, Avon and Eagle police departments have an official tally: 22,000 pounds collected by Eagle, Summit, Pitkin and Garfield county vans, as well as those staged at the corporate offices in Broomfield; 11,000 pounds collected from Eagle County Schools and local law enforcement agencies (Vail, Avon and Eagle police departments and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office; and $3,100 in cash and gift cards donated, with which food pantries will purchase an additional 15,500 pounds of food. Once again, thank you to everyone who brought in food and volunteered at the donation sites to make the 16th annual Fill the Van a success. Thank you for your generosity!
