The Beav kicks off summer with the three Bs
BEAVER CREEK The Blues, Brews and BBQ festival in Beaver Creek has become the unofficial start to summer and barbecue season in the mountains. On Saturday and Sunday, festival-goers can savor creations prepared by barbecue chefs from around the nation and listen to live blues music. Participating restaurants include Fiorellas Jack Stack of Kansas City, MO; Smokin Guns of Kansas City, MO; Pink Flamingo of Ft. Smith, AR; Q of Albuquerque, NM; Smokey Ds of Des Moines, IA; Dr. BBQ of Lakeland, FL; Sweet Mamas BBQ of Westminster, Colo.; Over the Fence BBQ of Thorton, Colo.; Moes BBQ of Eagle; and Kirby Cosmos BBQ Bar of Minturn, Colo. Several Beaver Creek restaurants will also participate.
Blues performers Ron Thompson, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers, and Joe Bonamassa will rock the outdoor plaza both days from noon- 6 p.m. Cooking demonstrations and kids activities will also entertain festival attendees. People can take chairlift rides from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Kids younger than 12 ride the lift for free when accompanied by a paying adult. On Saturday, the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek presents the states largest exclusively Colorado Microbrewery Beer Tasting from 1-5 p.m. The tasting features more than 100 special suds from 30 Colorado-based breweries.
