The dopest show in town

Special to the DailyWith five live instruments and one vinyl-spinning disc jockey, United Dope Front lays down some funky ecclecticisms at Half Moon Saloon tonight at 10.

With the service industry at full throttle, the mountain closing to many local pass holders and a New Year’s Eve, perhaps clouded in work, just around the corner, a lot of folks need to let loose.

United Dope Front is prepared to help those in need with a couple of hours of live funk and jazz, with moments of hip-hop, blues and rock tonight at Half Moon Saloon at 10.

The band features drummer Damien Hines, scratch specialist DJ Timbuk, bassist Kurt Reber, saxophone player Ben Senterfit, Javier Gonzalez on guitar and Hammond B-3 player and keyboardist Jarad Astin.

Created in 1995, the original ensemble got its start as a key element of the underground acid-jazz scene developing in locales in Denver, Boulder and the High Country.

In 1998, the band released its first album called “The Sexual Chocolate Experiment.” The album is something that will get feet moving, and it’s something that will relieve muscular tension.
