The Lodge and Spa at Cordillera

Joy Overbeck

The Spa at Cordillera is at the pinnacle of spa fame, too. Among its multiple awards are recent accolades from both Conde Nast Traveler Magazine and Travel and Leisure as one of the ten top spas in the country.

But here, you’ll find none of the pretension that often surrounds such acclaim. The spa has a cushy living room atmosphere with carpeting and overstuffed chairs and couches, even in the nail salon. Body treatments, facials, scrubs, and special all-in-one packages are on the menu.

The Thermal Mineral Kur is based on the old European tradition of medicinal mud and light massage therapy. You are gently relaxed with a Moor Mud body wrap, massaged with juniper, fennel and grapefruit essential oils, then wrapped in warm blankets for your acupressure face and scalp massages. Yes!

Body exfoliation treatments include the Turkish Salt Scrub, the Thermal Mineral Scrub, and the Chamomile Scrub. In just an hour, you’ll be kitten-soft from stem to stern. For your massage, choose from the traditional Cordillera Signature Massage, the Sports Massage, Reflexology or Thai Massage. The Lasone Therapy features smooth basalt rocks, warm or cool, placed at strategic points or gently used for massage to promote energy balance and blood flow. Prenatal massage, Shiatsu, Reiki, and other specialties are also offered.

The spa also features a fitness center, indoor lap pool and spectacular outdoor heated pool with top-of-the-world views, all yours to enjoy when you have a treatment. The boutique and hair design studio are definitely worth a visit, too.
