The most outrageous event in history!
God is God and you’re not! We tend to deceive ourselves and think we’ve got to be the master of our own destiny. Face it; we’re masters of nothing. We are flawed and imperfect. We’re capable of wonderful goodness and great evil all at once. That’s our undeniable nature. We need God to be God on our behalf we need the Sovereign Lord if we truly want to experience life eternal.None of us, with all our abilities or intelligence, can be good enough or smart enough to possess eternal life on our own. When are our good works good enough? There are no “Great Scales of Justice” that weigh good and bad deeds at the end of our lives. So here we stand, day after day, imperfect creatures in need of a Savior. Is there any hope for us?Two thousand years ago, God did a most outrageous thing and reintroduced hope of Planet Earth. He committed Himself to an act of redemption on our behalf that cost Him dearly. John 3:16 says, “God loved us so much that He gave us His only Son that whoever believes in Him will never die, but have eternal life.” God put on flesh and visited our world…not just earth, but our personal lives and our daily struggles as well. He reached out in a way beyond our comprehension to help imperfect humans who simply could not be “good enough”. It is an indisputable fact that a child named Jesus was born in Bethlehem, Israel to teenage parents. And God was the Dad! Since then, atheists, pseudo-scholars, and government officials have attempted to relegate Jesus Christ to a good teacher or even a great prophet certainly not the Son of God. But as C.S. Lewis states: “A man who was merely a man & said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic…or the Devil of hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was & is the Son of God or else a madman or something worse.” -Mere Christianity. What’s your choice? Christmas is not about some winter holiday where people compromise their souls to be “politically correct”. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ the most fantastic act of love the world will ever know or experience! These pathetic attempts to change the truth fall way short of the beauty of God’s compassion for a troubling creation. Yes, God is God and we are not. And there is only one reason to rejoice this December. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem and 2,000 year later, His Grace and Truth remain just as firm and strong as that first Christmas night. There is a gift waiting to be opened this season just for you. Will you make the choice to accept this pure, mind-blowing act of love God has for you? “For unto us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, & the government will be upon His shoulders. He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…” Isaiah 9:6.Vail, Colorado
