The Town of Minturn is planning its Biggest Cleanup Day Ever!
MINTURN – The Town of Minturn will hold its “biggest cleanup day ever!” on Saturday, May 21 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Municipal lot across from the Turntable Restaurant.
This year, the Town of Minturn Public Works Department has teamed up with Lafarge Concrete, Ginn Clubs and Resorts and A-Peak Asphalt to assist Minturn residents in disposing of their larger household waste items such as furniture, stoves, refrigerators, tires, old machines, equipment and anything that the residents need to get rid of. The Town will not be accepting any hazardous materials such as paint, oil or batteries.
The Town itself will be undertaking a major effort to clean up several Town properties that have accumulated a variety of old equipment, old furniture and vehicles.
Volunteers are needed to team up with the Town staff to clean up litter in all areas of the town. Volunteers will be meeting at the Municipal Parking lot across from the Turntable Restaurant at 9:00 a.m., where they will be assigned an area to work for litter pick up. Volunteers will be provided with garbage bags and gloves.
Following the clean up, from Noon to 1:30 pm, the volunteers and community participants will be treated to a picnic lunch at the Turntable, which is being sponsored by the Ginn Clubs and Resorts.
Refrigerators may be dropped off for a fee of $35 (for Freon removal) and collection information must be filled out before the appliance is unloaded from vehicles. No appliances, water heaters, sofas or other large items may be placed in dumpsters.- An attendant will direct citizens where to unload.
Street Cleanup!- On Friday, May 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the Minturn Police Department asks you to please not park on the streets, especially Main Street, in order for the street sweeping crew to be able to sweep the streets.- Any questions regarding this may be directed to Chief Martinez at 827-4272. –
To sign up as a volunteer, please call Minturn Town Hall office at (970) 827-5645, stop by the office or visit the Town’s web site http://www.minturn.org
