The Vilar Performing Arts Center’s 14th season kicking off Wednesday

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – The Vilar Performing Arts Center’s 14th season kicks off on Wednesday with a live performance of Fleetwood Mac’s Grammy-winning “Rumours” album, note for note and cut for cut, by rock ‘n’ roll band Classic Albums Live.The winter 2011-12 season, which spans November to April, includes 53 performances representing a wide variety of genres, including 12 family shows and 20 concerts. New this year, the Vilar Center will offer a VPAC 5-PAC and four “Pay What You Will” nights.The first-ever Vilar Center 5-PAC is available for purchase now through the season’s first concert on Wednesday for $98 ($201 value). Five-PAC tickets are transferable and include one ticket each month this winter to the following concerts: Classic Album Live’s tribute to Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” album (Nov. 16), The Dallas Brass (Dec. 13), Ellis Paul (Jan. 29), Ruthie Foster & Paul Thorn (Feb. 17) and Straight No Chaser (March 27). The Vilar Center 5-PAC is on sale through Nov. 16.Also new for the winter season, the VPAC will be hosting four “Pay What You Will” nights. On each of these evenings, ticket buyers can name the price that they would like to pay for their ticket. A limited number of “Pay What You Will” tickets will be available for each show. Tickets will be cash only and available for purchase at the Vilar Center box office in Beaver Creek on the day of the performance, not available online. Fifteen dollars is the minimum price suggested per ticket. “Pay What You Will Night” is valid at the following 2011-12 performances: Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra (Jan. 15), “Great Moments in Opera” (Feb. 10), “Doubt: A Parable” – Montana Repertory Theatre (Feb. 13) and Moscow Festival Ballet (Feb. 22). Additional highlights from the 2011-12 season include a solo acoustic performance by Brandi Carlile on Dec. 7, funk-soul band The Commodores on Dec. 30, theatrical dance troupe Pilobolus on Jan. 19, country musician Randy Travis on Feb. 19, Broadway’s ’80s rock musical “Rock of Ages” on Feb. 29, Bruce Hornsby on March 24 and Bela Fleck and The Flecktones on April 6.
