‘Theater of Illusion’ canceled at the Vilar
BEAVER CREEK – Due to illness, the Spencer’s “Theatre of Illusion” magic show that was originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, will be replaced by Jim Gamble’s “Wonderful World of Puppets” at the Vilar Center for the Arts in Beaver Creek. The Spencer’s “Theatre of Illusion” magic show will be rescheduled at a later date to be announced. The puppet master appeared earlier in the center’s season with his version of the holiday favorite “The Nutcracker.” Showtime is 6:30 p.m., to accommodate the younger audience members.The “Wonderful World of Puppets” explores the creative and magical world of marionettes and marionette-making. Gamble’s gentle nature and incredible skill are evident and his stage shows are designed to capture family audiences’ imaginations.
Internationally recognized as an outstanding marionette artist and perennial favorite at the Vilar Center, Gamble has built and performed with puppets for over 35 years. Gamble has been honored by the Puppeteers of America with the President’s Award for contributions to the art of puppetry. His 16-member troupe, Jim Gamble Puppet Productions, has entertained audiences around the world, from California to Oregon, Japan to Australia, Fiji to South America. Their puppets have been featured at Disneyland, Disney World and on numerous film and television projects. Tickets to Gamble’s “Wonderful World of Puppets” are $11 for children and $14 for adults, and are available at the Vilar Center Box Office at 845-TIXS (8497) or http://www.vilarcenter.org. Ticket holders for the Spencer’s “Theatre of Illusion” are entitled to a tax-deductible receipt for the donation of their tickets, an exchange or a full refund.
