‘There’s a bomb in your garage’ – bomb threat in Beaver Creek
BEAVER CREEK- The man spoke quickly.
“There’s a bomb in your garage,” he said twice and then hung up, according to Kim Andree, spokeswoman for the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
A woman working in a clothing store in Beaver Creek received the call Wednesday, just after 7 p.m. She immediately called authorities who quickly organized and searched all public garages in the area and some private garages at well.
“We did as many as we felt we could do in a short period of time and still do it well,” Andree said.
Authorities also confirmed the woman who had received the bomb threat did not have a garage.
While there was no evacuation, authorities from several agencies kept people out of the garages as they were searched.
“These types of situations create such a plaque of fear, and it just spreads
rampant,” Andree said. “Later, we told people there had was a bomb threat and most people were like, ‘Oh, OK, I’m going to have a cup of coffee,’ or ‘I’m going to have a drink.'”
Less than two hours later, the area was cleared, but sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate the bomb threat.
“Obviously, we’re not going to let this go,” Andree said.
Beaver Creek was the victim of another bomb threat more than eight years ago on Christmas day when someone said there was a bomb in the Beaver Creek Hyatt hotel.
