Think outside the box this Halloween in Edwards
EDWARDS, Colorado – Alpine Arts Center is challenging trick-or-treaters to earn their Halloween candy this year at a special workshop this Saturday. Instead of buying a costume, Alpine Arts Center will help participants design their own costumes, which will all start with a simple cardboard box.
The workshop costs $35, which includes pizza, all materials, and instruction from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for kids ages 5 and up.
“We’re excited to see all of the costumes evolve through teamwork and ingenuity,” says Lauren Merrill, owner of Alpine Arts Center. “Sometimes the best ideas come from being in a creative environment and having lots of materials at your fingertips, and of course having instructors ready to offer advice.”
At the end of the workshop, the public is welcome to join Alpine Arts Center for a handmade costume parade where participants can show off their one-of-a-kind creations.
The Halloween costumes workshop is one of many events planned for this weekend at Alpine Arts Center. On Friday night, Fernando Palomo will offer a teen mural painting party from 6 to 9 p.m. with pizza, a street painting video, and hands on mural painting with drips, splatter, sharpie and more. On Sunday and Monday, Wendy Satsky will lead an adult workshop “Art As Language: Drawing and Painting as a Meditation,” which is open to all ability levels.
