EAGLE COUNTY — Do not confuse local woodworker Tim O’Brien with the Tim O’Brien who’s in prison for felony assault. They’re not the same guy.

Tim O’Brien runs O’Brien Woodworks, a woodworking shop in Gypsum’s Airport Business Park. He’s not in trouble and never has been. He is not in prison, although several of his clients have called him in a blind panic.

The other Tim O’Brien is also a woodworker and used to operate Shamrock woodworking in Eagle. He no longer does. He was sentenced last week to three years in state prison for stabbing a man during a fight that broke out when the man refused to turn off a weed whacker.

They have the same name and practice the same craft, so confusion is not unheard of, said the Tim O’Brien of O’Brien Woodworks. However, his phone has been ringing constantly with clients who heard about the other Tim O’Brien and wondered if it was him. It is not.

“I have thousands of happy clients,” said the Tim O’Brien who’s still free to practice his craft.
