This plan is off-Target for Eagle

The financial projections for Eagle River Station were created more than three years ago by the ERS developers. They included sales tax numbers which would include customers from Silt, Rifle, Glenwood Springs, Aspen and Silverthorne areas.

Now that Target has been officially named as the anchor for ERS, those projections become inaccurate and invalid. Who is going to drive to the Eagle Target from any of those places to shop when they have a Target in their own back yard?

Can our little Eagle Valley support another big box? I don’t think so! That is why ERS reached out of the county for their projections, to say nothing of the current eroding economy.

A yes vote will allow ERS to do nothing for up to three years. That is a disadvantage to the town of Eagle. Do not give these K.C. developers vested rights without new numbers and specific starting and completion dates.

A “no” vote would prevent stagnation and allow the growth of new businesses to proceed within the present town shopping areas. Perhaps even Highway 6 through town would get cleaned up and give our town a more appealing image.

Very few people see this development as positive, and the economic value to the town is now even more clouded.
