Thomas J. Owen will be painting at Cogswell Gallery
VAIL, Colorado Painter Thomas J. Owen will hold an exhibition of new works Saturday at Cogswell Gallery.
An artist and a teacher for more than 30 years, Owen is a nationally recognized painter in watercolor, oil and pastel. His work ranges from landscapes to figurative pieces. He enjoys developing designs from subjects such as steam locomotives, fishing boats, rustic architecture and scenes from nature.Owen has been elected to signature status in 10 watercolor societies including the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.He has received many major awards including the Mario Cooper and Dale Myers Medal, the Gold Medallion from the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolor, the Harriet Wexler Bartsch Award and the National Watercolor Society Award from Watercolor West.A graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Owen currently teaches painting to all levels of students at the Pikes Peak Community College and the Cottonwood Artists School in Colorado Springs, and conducts workshops across the United States. Owen’s work appears in many museum and corporate collections including: The American Numismatic Museum, the Columbia Museum of Art, ConAgra Foods, Gates Rubber, Deloitte & Touche, Kaiser Permanente, MCI WorldCom, Phelps Dodge Corporation, Wells Fargo, University of Colorado Hospital, Qwest, Swift and Co. and the Wichita Center for the Arts.
