VAIL – One of the most celebrated streets in New York City will make an appearance at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater Friday. A street on stage, yes, it’s The Three Broadway Divas.

The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival presents The Three Broadway Divas alongside the Dallas Symphony Orchestra 6 p.m. tonight under the baton of Jeff Tyzik.

“The Broadway musical is truly an American creation,” said Jacqueline Taylor, Bravo’s artistic administrator. “It came out of a time when there were no movies or TV, and it is still a thriving art form. People did, and still do, go in droves to see it.”

Tonight’s concert spans several generations of musical theater. Vocalists Debbie Gravitte, Jan Horvath and Christiane Noll take the stage to sing great numbers from Broadway musicals including “Gypsy,” “The Music Man,” “Wicked,” “Mama Mia,” “Evita,” “A Chorus Line,” and “My Fair Lady.”

“What you get is classic Broadway through the ages,” Taylor said. “Not only are you getting ‘Music Man’ and older Broadway but also newer works such as ‘Wicked’. It will be a real journey through classic American culture.”

It takes a real group of performers who can sing, act and entertain to pull off a performance like The Three Broadway Divas, Taylor said.

“There will be such a wide survey of the Broadway repertoire with three of its greatest divas,” said John Giovando, Bravo’s executive director. “These great songs performed alongside an orchestra with the stature of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will be an unforgettable experience.”

Tickets start at $24 for lawn seats and $48 to $60 for covered, pavilion seats. Children 12 and under receive free lawn admission. To purchase tickets call 877-812-5700 or visit http://www.vailmusic.org.
