Three candidates seek Judge Hart’s job
EAGLE COUNTY ” Two county judges are among three candidates to replace District Judge Richard Hart, who is retiring at the end of this month.
The candidates are:
– Frederick W. Gannett of Basalt, who is now the county court judge in Eagle County.
– Russell H. Granger of Georgetown, who is now the county court judge in Clear Creek County.
– David C. Lugert of Eagle, an attorney in private practice and former Eagle County prosecutor who was an analyst for newspapers and television during the Kobe Bryant criminal case.
Colorado Gov. Bill Owens will pick Hart’s replacement. He has until March 21 to make his decision. Whoever replaces Hart will face retention elections every four years, but judicial recalls are rare in Colorado, and most judges work until they decide to retire.
