Thursday’s Taste of Vail outlook

VAIL – Taste of Vail kicks off today with a seminar, moves on to the 7th annual Colorado Lamb Cook-Off and Apres Ski Tasting, and wraps up with evening events featuring unique libations.
Foodies interested in learning about “The Art of Cooking with Liquor” can join Vail’s Kelly Liken for a seminar that dives into the art of cooking with Belvedere vodka and Colorado lamb. The seminar is from 1 to 3 p.m. at Terra Bistro and the cost is $60 per person.
The pinnacle of the afternoon is the Colorado Lamb Cook-Off and Apres Ski tasting, which takes place in Vail Village from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event features lamb dishes courtesy of the Vail Valley’s finest chefs and the Colorado Lamb Board. In the theme of “Life Beyond Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot,” wineries will showcase a wide array of varietals that include Riesling, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, shiraz and zinfandel. Unlimited tasting tickets are $75 with individual samples available for $4 each.
Meanwhile, Taste of Vail artist Carrie Fell will sign her commemorative event artwork from 3 to 7 p.m. at Masters Gallery on Gore Creek Drive.
The festivities continue into the night as festival participants can adjourn to the Tap Room in Vail Village for Davidoff cigars and craft distiller liquors from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Cigar and liquor representatives will be on hand pairing the two products. Tickets are $50 per person for the cigar event.
For the late-night crowd, Frost Bar at the Sebastian promises to be the place to be seen for “Get Your Frost Off” – an after-dinner drink mixoff using Belvedere vodka, Grand Marnier, Hennessy and 10 Cane Rum. Mixologists from various bars and restaurants in Vail will make their favorite drinks featuring these signature spirits. Pastry Chef Dale De Simone from the Sebastian will present a tray of dessert options to accompany the cocktail creations. Tickets for Get Your Frost Off are $40 per person.
