Vail CO, Colorado
VAIL ” Popular jam-band Disco Biscuits will play Vail’s Dobson Ice Arena Jan. 19, with supporting acts Perpetual Groove and Pnuma Live PA set to open the evening’s concert. Denver-based promoter Live Nation has booked the band on a four-night tour of Colorado, with other shows being played outside of Vail in Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins. Tickets for the Dobson concert are available on Ticketmaster’s website, however locals can avoid online convenience charges by purchasing tickets locally at the Vail (Village) Information Center above the Colorado Ski Museum, the Mountain Adventure Center at the top of Bridge Street, and Eagle Valley Music’s new location in West Vail. Tickets are $28 cash-only in Vail, or $39.50 online.
According to the band’s website, the Disco Biscuits have entered their second decade as one of the most successful acts on the jam-band circuit. In the years since the band came out of the University of Pennsylvania party scene in the mid-’90s, the Disco Biscuits have brought together the worlds of jam bands and electronic music with its “trance-fusion” sound that mixes the free-form improvisations of jazz with the hypnotic rhythms that provided the soundtrack for rave culture. In the process, the band has garnered a loyal fanbase.
Dobson Ice Arena will host additional concerts in 2008, including Michael Franti and Spearhead shows over the President’s Day weekend, scheduled for two nights, February 16 and 17.
