Tickets on sale Friday for summer Joe Bonamassa show
BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center announces the addition of Joe Bonamassa to its summer season. This is the first time the blues guitarist has played at the VPAC. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday at 11 a.m.
Arguably one of the most skilled guitarists of his generation, Bonamassa’s assiduous approach to creating and performing music continues to yield sold-out audiences worldwide. Inspired by music legends Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and B.B. King, Bonamassa was destined to be an incredible rock star. Success struck the prolific guitarist at the early age of 12 when he opened for the legendary B.B. King in 1989. “He invited me on a tour that summer … and it was a blast,” Bonamassa said. “Instead of breaking out the slip n’ slide and the BMX bike, I was on the road with B.B. King!”
Now in his 26th year as a professional musician, Bonamassa continues to blaze a remarkably versatile artistic trail and amass an authentic, innovative and soulful body of work. He recently earned his first Grammy nomination for Best Blues Album, his twelfth Number One Billboard Blues Album (more than any other artist), and his DVD “Joe Bonamassa: Live At The Royal Albert Hall,” featuring Eric Clapton, went platinum.
This concert will feature material from Howlin’ Wolf, one of the most influential Chicago bluesmen of all time. Bonamassa will also play music from Muddy Waters, “the father of modern Chicago blues,” in addition to his own extensive original material.
In addition to a full tour schedule, Bonamassa uses his time and talent to enrich the lives of young musicians. He founded and oversees the non-profit Keeping The Blues Alive Foundation to promote the heritage of the blues to the next generation, fund music scholarships and supplement the loss of music education in public schools.
“Joe Bonamassa is one of the world’s greatest guitarists and a sensational performer,” said VPAC executive director Kris Sabel. “His presence in our intimate space will be powerful and we are honored to host him for the first time this August.”
Tickets for Joe Bonamassa are $98/$128 and are available Friday at 11 a.m, online at http://www.vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-8497 or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek.
