Tickets on sale Wednesday for Vail Valley classical music and dance series
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado – With the Bravo! Festival kicking off Wednesday and the Vail International Dance Festival only a few weeks away, the atmosphere in the Vail Valley is rich with world-class music and dance throughout the next two months.
However, the cultural scene in this community extends well beyond these two festivals. The Vilar Performing Arts Center announced its winter 2009-’10 classical and dance series performances. Highlights of the schedule include the theatrical illusion of Momix, two evenings of opera, the return of the 110-member Russian National Orchestra, and a special two-night engagement with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, performing two different evenings of their celebrated works. Tickets for all shows are on sale Wednesday at 11 a.m.
“We know that so many people in this community celebrate music and dance in the summer as they attend the Bravo! and Vail International Dance Festival shows,” said Kris Sabel, executive director of the Vilar Center. “Our hope with this early announcement is to keep the momentum going, and make sure that these committed lovers of culture are able to mark their calendars and reserve the best seats in the house to this exceptional slate of performances next winter.”
And the correlation isn’t just intuitive.
“When you attend the International Evenings of Dance on Aug. 8 and 9 at the Ford Amphitheater, you’ll see the world class dance of performing artists from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater,” Sabel said. “If you are blown away by their breathtaking modern vocabulary of movement, which you most certainly will be, then you won’t want to miss the full company in their two evenings of performance next March. Consider the Ailey performances here this summer a sneak peek at what you’ll witness next spring.”
Sabel also encourages people to buy their seats early, to ensure the best vantage point from which to experience the performances.
Tickets are available beginning today at 11 a.m. online at http://www.vilarpac.org, by phone at 888-920-ARTS(2787) or in person at the Vilar Center box office in Beaver Creek. Tickets are available online 24 hours a day; the box office is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with additional hours on performance days.
