Rules are rules, right?
I was wondering why, with parking so restricted on the curb at the Eagle County Airport with no unattended vehicles permitted, why a TSA vehicle, U.S. government license plate G6101195, is consistently left at the curb while the driver and maintenance guy from TSA wanders around the airport with his calendar in his hand? Rules apply to everybody, why is he the exception?
It’s kind of a strange situation, our justice system, but if the rape evidence is tossed out of court so that the rapist can have the upper hand, what is the point in even reporting a rape? And I’m not saying it happened, but why report a rape if you are actually raped if all this evidence is going to be tossed out? This is from a victim of such a situation. It really is a sad, sickening, pathetic deal that the rapist gets to go free and the rapee is crucified. You guys do a beautiful job of reporting, by the way.
I’ll take a county car
Regarding the Tipsline comment “Lesson skipped” on March 10, I couldn’t agree more. I’m wondering about the vehicles I see in other counties on the weekends. Referring to the county employee and family in the blue, double cab Dodge pickup that I saw a couple weeks ago, also in Glenwood, cruising through the Wal-Mart parking lot. You’re right. These vehicles belong to the taxpayers of Eagle County. Can I come and pick up a vehicle this weekend? What’s going on here?
Wrong way drivers
I’d like to know why is it when you go down Highway 6, every night somebody always travels in the wrong lane going right from Miller Ranch all the way up past Arrowhead, they’re always driving in that right lane where people are supposed to turn in to Arrowhead, not just keep on traveling and then try and cut somebody off. I’m glad I stay way back, because boy I’ll tell you, no one knows how to drive around here sometimes.
Time to change council
If anybody cares, they need to turn on the Minturn Town Council meeting on Channel 5, and watch how your mayor argues with one of his residents that brought in information from our town charter stating that the land that they want to put the RV park should be a park for park and recreation, not an RV park. Remember, when you vote, the way we’re going to change this is to vote for Flaherty, Sullivan and Bumgartner. Three names only, and let the rest of the people fight it out, because they want the RV park for the most part.
Much ado at airport
I’m a part-time county worker and did some checking on my own. I came to find out Mr. Kittay is a friend of and former employee of Dan Boes, who is the owner of a taxi company in the area, so his reference to Airlink is suspect at best, I believe. Airlink is an ICC licensed company with PUC registration. Yes, they made an error, they corrected the error, paid a fine, all checks have been cashed, everything’s legal, get over it. His letter also mentions damage to other companies. I don’t know if he knows it, but his friend’s company is operating in defiance of the rules and regulations of the airport. They parade all over the airport with signs on their clipboards saying “taxi.” They meet and greet people with signs that say “taxi” all over them, that’s against the regulations. Their drivers wander into the baggage claim area whenever flights are down, bumping into people, asking people if they want a ride, all against the regulations. Their antics are sophomoric and inane at best, pathetic is probably more like it. The airport authorities don’t enforce a lot of the regulations, so I guess if you look at it that way, it’s OK to break them. Anyway, it seems your friend in the taxi business is doing monetary damage to legitimate tenants of the airport, so he has nothing to cry about. I agree with you that the taxi company should have a stand for their service, just like DIA and other airports. The taxi drivers should have to stay with their vehicles, just like every other airport. Taxi representatives should not be allowed to sign up passengers inside the airport. It’s against the regulations down here, but they do it. They should only be allowed to sign up passengers at their taxi stand, not inside the airport. It seems like your friend’s cab company wants everything their way, and they whine when they don’t get it. They break the regulations whenever they can. As for the parking, the county is planning to put together a solution to the problems as far as long and short term parking is concerned. You won’t like it though, because it involves paying money.
You are right about the Stone and Gallagher issue, as far as I’m concerned. I’m not voting for Stone again, even if he runs unopposed. So, thanks for the rant.
Just out for a buck
I haven’t seen the “Passion of Christ,” and I doubt if I ever will. This movie was to make money and nothing else. Money makes the world go around. There’s no person or beggar in the world that knows about Christ, OK? It’s as simple as that. Remember, God made this world for all of us to enjoy, and nobody’s religion is better than anyone else’s. Remember, religion is the root of all evil, and God loves you all.I haven’t seen the “Passion of Christ,” and I doubt if I ever will. This movie was to make money and nothing else.
