Cop-spankI’m calling back in about the Avon Police Dept. at Avon Elementary School and enforcing the law. After the last article, they decided not to show up at all. So it’s amazing, these guys are brilliant. They don’t like to enforce the law, and they don’t care about the safety of the kids at Avon Elementary School. They’d rather go do something else. I guess they are at C-Mart eating their doughnuts in the morning now. You guys are absolutely pathetic. If you can’t enforce the laws, go get another job. Do we really need you? I know you have such a rough job being a police officer here in the Vail Valley. Tax dollars are hard at work.No answersThis is just my two cents worth. Over the past several years I’ve been in the County Assessor’s office many times on business, and prior to 2003, the mood in the office was lighthearted and an all around pleasant experience. Since then I’ve witnessed a gradual deterioration of the mood of the office. I’ve asked questions of the assessor personally, and have never gotten an adequate answer to any of my questions. I’ve always had to turn to staff members to get my questions answered. By the way, since the first amendment has not been repealed, the lady who wrote the letter to the editor has every right to inform the public of the situation without fear of reprisal. If she is harassed or terminated, I for one hope she hires an attorney and takes legal action. That’s my two cent’s worth.Who cares?I guess you have to fill your pages for the off season, but your second homeowner articles are really ostentatious. I mean, do you put a spread out for locals like that for a whole week, it at least consumes 10 or 12 pages. I mean who cares? Who cares? I pay taxes all year round in Eagle County. Groceries, restaurants, clothing, Wal-Mart, Home Depot. I think it was glorifying the second homeowner. Who cares? The people that live here don’t care. Don’t care. You people need to get it right.SawbonesI have a comment to make about the doctors in this valley. I think they are terrible and I think we need to get doctors to come up from Denver to replace the ones that are up here.Latin menaceJust wanted to say, I couldn’t agree more with Tuesday’s Tipsline entitled “doesn’t understand,” I too welcome anyone into the U.S. as long as they do it legally and pay taxes. After reading the same edition’s article on the immigrants’ walkout where the message that a sleeping giant has awakened was expressed, I felt angered at what sounded like a threat. Like, ‘ha ha, there’s just too many of us here now to do anything about, so you just better give us our way or else.’ No other immigrant groups that I can think of has ever tried to blatantly force their wishes upon the American public. It just doesn’t seem fair to all the present-day legal immigrants. I for one, and many of my middle class friends of mixed heritage, whose forefathers came to America legally, don’t like it.HIPPA-cracyJust a quick note. When you go the doctor’s office and they have you sign the HIPPA privacy letter, don’t assume that they’re going to abide by it, because I guess these country doctors think they can break the rules and send messages to other doctors or talk to them when we haven’t given permission. So yeah, they like to break the laws, so watch out, cover your butt. HIPPA don’t mean nothing to these doctors. No man’s landI just have a message for all those people in the Tipsline arguing and demonstrating about illegals not being wanted here in the U.S. First of all, this is no man’s land. Doesn’t anybody get it? None of us own this land. Therefore, I think they are able to be here and work here. It’s not any different from people coming from different states; Pennsylvania, California, Minnesota, and working here in Colorado. It’s all the same. They come here and take jobs from the Coloradans, so what’s the difference. This is no man’s land, so let them be and let them work.Go CSP!Hats off to the Colorado State Patrol who are monitoring speeders on I-70 from Glenwood Canyon to Vail. Everybody that lives in Eagle County knows how dangerous excessive speed is on I-70 for two leggeds and four leggeds, so thanks so much for helping us, guys. We all appreciate you. We’re not all illegalI’m calling about all of the articles in the Tipsline about immigration.
