Seen any eagles?

My name is Rich Ranieri. I’ve volunteered for Jefferson County Open Space for a number of years helping them collect breeding success data on their area raptors (eagles, hawks, falcons). I’m interested in starting a similar program up here in Eagle County, so I need information about active or historical raptor nests’ locations.

Present land owner information would be helpful as well. The only golden eagle nest I knew about in the county (in Eagle) failed originally in 2003, and has been unsuccessful since. It appears the female died late that summer, causing the death of her two, nearly fledged eaglets, still in the nest. The male is still around, but has been unsuccessful in attracting a new female into his territory.

I would love to know if we have any other pairs nesting in the county, and if they are adding young to our local population. Either e-mail me at, or call me at 926-1129. Thanks.

Participate in The Longevity Project

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

Bob Truscheit. Have you noticed the lift lines at Chair 4 recently? The lift is running slow for the rest of the season. Vail Resorts says they can’t fix it. Compromised service? How about compromised lift ticket prices?
