No new taxes

This is Ryan Bowers. Property tax evaluations just came out recently and it turns out the county commissioners want to tax us some more.

It’s no wonder they sent all the cops around here to manage civil disobedience and riot control classes. It looks like it may be coming.

Editor’s note: The county commissioners did not raise property taxes this year. The Eagle County Assessor attributes the rise in local property taxes to the significant rise in property values over the past two years.

However, state tax laws like the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights and the Gallagher Amendment limit the amount of revenue the state can collect from property taxes.

So while property taxes may have gone up, they haven’t gone up as much as local property values have.

Spread the grass

My name is Polly Jeffries. The tip of mine is this: A local Minturn woman runs her dog in the fenced-off grassy place. If she’s entitled to run her dog in that grassy spot, every local in Minturn with a dog should have the same privilege.
